Autumn journey

Autumn has really arrived. The light was golden through the trees. The children were fascinated by the growth of new mushrooms. They wondered about the ‘dust’ that they saw come out of the puffballs. As we have been noticing seeds of plants, it was a was an opportunity to look at mushrooms and their spores.

Hedgehog game

We played a hedgehog protector game.

Making hedgehogs

We looked at this photograph of parts of the hedgehog and collected materials that we might use to create our own hedgehogs.

Some children also made leaf homes for hedgehogs for the winter. 

Drawing hedgehogs with oak gall ink

One group made oak gall ink and then drew their hedgehogs.

Magical music

During sit spot the children heard a fairy playing the flute. They weren’t quite sure where it came from but they were sure it came from the fairies.
