Junior Infants – first day in Forest school

Junior Infants had their first session in the forest today. They used all their senses and their imaginations and had lots of fun learning. They noticed things with their ears and hands and bodies and eyes and noses and mouths and did lots of wondering, developing their observation and curiosity skills.

They met the grandmother tree and got to know their base camps. They made things with natural materials. They loved having their 6th class assistants supporting their play and learning. There was lots of communication and collaboration when building and making dens or creating woodland creatures.

Forest school is about developing and deepening our connections with ourselves, each other and nature. Where possible this is child led learning and each group has a different experience.

Below are some photos from different groups.
