On May 19th, our Junior and Senior Infants classes set off on a very exciting adventure to Explorium, Ireland’s National Sport and Science Centre! From the moment the children arrived at school, there was a buzz of excitement in the air. With bright smiles and packed bags, they were ready for a day full of fun and discovery.
After a quick reminder about how to stay safe and happy on our trip, we hopped on the bus and headed off. The excitement grew even more as we turned into the entrance of Explorium and spotted at least four deer! The children were fascinated, although some were a little less thrilled about having to dodge deer droppings while lining up!

We were warmly welcomed at the entrance by the friendly Explorium staff – including a robot greeter, which caused great excitement and amazement!
Once inside, the real adventure began. The children got to design their very own dinosaurs and then watched them come to life on the big screens. There were so many hands-on activities to enjoy – they built rollercoasters, climbed walls, bounced to their hearts’ content, and even did some pretend shopping in the mini supermarket, where lobster was a very popular item on the menu!

The fancy dress corner was a big hit too, with plenty of giggles and creativity as children dressed up in all sorts of fun costumes.

After a jam-packed day of exploring, playing, and learning, we made our way back to school with tired legs but happy hearts. We were absolutely exhausted – the sign of a truly brilliant day!
A big thank you to the Explorium team for making it such a memorable visit, the parents for your support, and the staff who helped make the day run so smoothly.
We’re sure the children will be chatting about their Explorium adventure for a long time to come!
