Spirits are buoyed up not only by the sunshine and fine weather but also by the physical and creative achievements of our DSP children! As a school community we are very proud of all our children who, no matter whether they win or lose, are always complimented on their behaviour, their manners, their ability to cheer on others and their attitude towards taking on challenges! We are also very proud of the compliments they all receive by visitors, including visiting student placement supervisors who continually voice how welcoming and warm the children and staff are to them and the student teachers.
Art News

A massive well done to Layla Baker (6th Class) who has been announced as a winner in the 71st Texaco Children’s Art Competition. Layla was the overall winner of Category C (12-13 years) with her fabulous artwork entitled ‘Grandad’s Retirement Year’ created with acrylic paints. What an achievement! Huge congratulations Layla!
Sports News
Thank you to the children of DSP who represent us so well in the various sports events in which they take part!

Boys and Girls squads (students from 4th-6th) have been competing in the FAI Schools Dublin League and Junior Cup 11 Aside competitions since late February. These competitions are ongoing.
Boys and Girls squads (students from 4th-6th) competed in the FAI Spar 5 Aside District Qualifiers on the week of March 24th. The boys were runners up on the day having reaching the final while the girls won the final therefore advanced to the Dublin stage next month as one of only two qualifiers on the day from a total of 25 teams.
The girls 5s played in the Dublin Finals of the 5 aside at DCU on April 10th.
The boys topped their group in the 11 aside football league and so are now in a semi-final against St Catherine’s.

The boys hockey squad (4th – 6th) won the league final on March 26th.
The girls hockey squad (4th-5th) got to the semi-final of their league.
The senior girls hockey squad (6th) also participated in the league and were very unfortunate to miss out on qualifying.
DSP chess club have travelled to GKNS and D7 Educate Together for tournaments this year. They all had a great experience and were impressive in their well-considered moves. Thank you all for representing us so wonderfully.
Go on the DSPers who display great sportspersonship at all the events!!
Super Sixth
Our Super Sixth will be leaving us soon but until then they continue to experience all the great activities and opportunities available to them in DSP.
Our World Kickboxing Champion and DSP teacher, Amy Wall, has been giving lessons in kickboxing. The children have been really enjoying the lessons, realising their strength and agility.

Friendship Cup: 6th class visited Monkstown Educate Together for the Friendship Cup where they took part in sports and team building activities. It also gave them a chance to meet other kids who may be going to the same secondary school. There was lots of fun in the sun!!
STEAM: 6th had great fun and learnt a lot about connections and currents when they completed their lighthouse projects! Young scientists lighting the way!!

Garden Club
The Garden Club continues to be a big hit with lots of work being done in the garden and on the patio. The children are reaping the rewards of their previous work with lots of tasty nibbles from the vegetable beds. The peas on the patio are coming along nicely with lots of eager eyes (and mouths) being kept on their progress. The garden is in full bloom and looking colourful and lush!

Hot Meals
Some of our children have been having other taste experiences as they sample some of the hot meals from the various food companies who have been invited to DSP. The children have been providing thoughtful commentary and reviewing the overall dining experience keeping in mind nutrition and sustainability.

A very big thank you to parents/guardians for the time and energy you give to facilitate our children’s’ trips, tournaments, activities and experiences!
