6th Class Forest School – Student Perspective

This year we have done Forest School. It’s really fun. We make ink. We play and do sit-spot (it’s where you find a spot to sit and just take a minute to think about nature.) We learn to put up hammocks and ropes. We learn how to weave and make friendship bracelets. At the end of the year we hope to be able to teach the Junior Infants all the skills we learned.

It’s a fun activity. We go up to Killiney Hill and have fun. I like making spears and climbing. My favourite thing is the tea, like nettle tea. It’s lovely.

In Forest School I would like to do more of owls and crows and more than one tea a week if that is possible. So far we have learned to tie a know and hang up the hammocks. We learned how to set boundaries for people of all ages.

We have been doing Forest School for 5years and I’m still learning new things. Forest School is a great way to learn about nature. The games we played were very fun and enjoyable. I’m very grateful to have Forest School, it has been a great experience and I’ll miss it when I leave the school.

We recently started going down to Killiney Hill to do Forest School. So far my friend and I have learnt a lot like how to put up a rope swing. We have also learnt how to do some knots like the alpine butterfly and loads more. Forest School is very fun and I think every school should enjoy the forest like we do.

Forest School is fun, except for the walk up. Once you get up to the forest it’s pretty cool. You can chill, explore, make spears to hunt people with… good times. I once threw a pine cone into a hole in a tree. It took me 10minutes, but it was fun! EVERYTHING in Forest School is fun! (except for the walk up- anywaus thanks for reading).
