Summary Report DSP BoM December 2025

Fond Farewell

The DSP BoM would like to thank our previous Chair Ciarán Byrne (Patron nominee). As Chairperson, Ciarán was very generous with his time in attending extra meetings. Ciarán led and consulted with compassion and empathy, keeping the children, their families and their well-being at the centre of all decisions. During a time of change, Ciarán’s calm, thoughtful, contemplative and reflective approach to leading was a huge support to Clodagh, the staff of DSP and the whole school community.

The DSP BoM would like to thank our previous Treasurer, Brendan Lawlor (Community Nominee). As Treasurer, Brendan was also very generous with his time in attending extra meetings. Brendan’s attention to detail, his in-depth understanding of the school’s financial processes and his support in helping others to understand budgets, accounts, and financial reporting has ensured DSP is compliant, safe, ethical and trustworthy.

Warm Welcome

The DSP BoM would like to warmly welcome our new Chair, Daniel Stanford, and our new Treasurer, Nuala O’ Hagan. The BoM would like to thank them both in advance for their commitment to the DSP BoM and the community, and acknowledges the work, time and energy which is given in their individual roles.

Voluntary Contributions

The BoM would like to say a big thank you to all those who have made voluntary contributions so far this school year. Thanks to your generosity our children can experience initiatives, programmes and activities which benefit their physical and mental wellbeing and all this in a warm, bright and clean environment. If you have made a contribution, please don’t forget to fill out your Enduring Certificate CHY3 form (attached). This Charitable Donations tax refund scheme can provide the school with an extra 45% of your Voluntary Contribution at no cost to you provided certain conditions are met.

Hot Meals Scheme

The BoM welcomes the news that the Hot Meals Scheme will commence in January and thanks all the staff, parents and children who were involved in the long and arduous tendering process. The BoM appreciates the genuine interest of those involved to try and ensure all children receive a hot meal which is healthy and nutritious.

Special Needs Assistant Review

The BoM acknowledges the very valid concern of staff in regard to the NCSE led Special Needs Assistants Review which is due to take place this school year. The BoM also acknowledges the far reaching impact a loss of SNA/s would have on the well-being of all children in the school.

Communications

The Board of Management would like to thank the DSP community who observe important policies and guidelines, including the Communication Policy, Bí Cineálta Policy, Dignity at Work Policy, and the Email & Meeting Guidelines. These policies are essential to ensure effective, compassionate and empathetic communication between all members of the community and can be found on the DSP website. The Board of Management also recognises and commends DSP staff for their professionalism, dedication, and ongoing advocacy and care for every child.

Policies

The BoM reviewed and ratified the DSP Critical Incident Plan and the DSP Assessment Policy. Thank you to all those involved in policies and plans to ensure our DSP children are safe and included.

The BOM considered updates on various ongoing initiatives and projects within the school. They reviewed progress on key areas such as the issues which affect children’s wellbeing, ensuring that all students have access to the best possible resources and support. The BOM also discussed future plans to continue improving the school’s environment. These updates are essential to maintaining the school’s growth and success, and the BOM remains committed to making informed decisions that benefit the entire school community.
