It is with great sadness that we, in DSP, mark the recent death of Micheal Johnston.

Mike was one of the founders of Dalkey School Project. He worked with his wife Pat, and other devoted and committed advocates to start and guide the group that led to the establishment of DSP, and the wider Educate Together movement.

Mike had a lifelong commitment to inclusive education, which he expressed through his work on the Board of Management of DSP and Newpark Comprehensive School, and as Chairperson of Educate Together.

Mike’s enormous generosity, energy, warmth and intelligence will be long remembered by all who met him. Through his work in Irish education, he has made inclusive, co-educational and child-centred schooling available to so many.

We hold his family and friends in our hearts at this sad time, and we are full of gratitude for his life and for the opportunities he helped to create for us, our children and generations to come.
