2nd Class – Elder

This week our class took part in a Forest School session all about the elder tree, a native Irish species full of history, magic, and uses. We explored its leaves, bark, berries, and seeds while learning folklore stories like The Dagda’s Harp and The Elder Tree and the Cailleach. Through games, movement, and play, we discovered how nature can inspire joy and curiosity. We even made ink from elderberries and enjoyed quiet sit spots to notice the world around us. It was a lovely mix of fun and creativity while also a wonderful reminder that learning outdoors can be magical!
