We look forward to sports and outdoor games next week, class by class, with Sixth Class guiding the whole school. It is a great testament to the wonderful teaching and encouragement the Sixth Class children have received over their years at DSP that they are leading the physical education learning next week.
Our usual tradition is for families to get together, chat, picnic (weather permitting). The PTA host an ice cream table and proceeds go to Down Syndrome Ireland. Although we cannot gather together this year as families, we can remain apart and think about others needs. The Sports Day Team have organised to have ice creams available for each class on their Sports Day. We ask that children bring €2.00 to donate to Down Syndrome. Below is the timetable showing what day each class will have their sports activities.
Monday 8:45 – 10 Junior Infants 11 – 12:15 1st Class
Tuesday 8:45 – 10 2nd Class 11-12:15 5th Class
Wednesday 8:45 – 10 Senior Infants 11 – 12:15 4th Class
Thursday 8:45 – 10 3rd Class 11 – 12:15 6th Class
Thanks to Mr Mannion, Ms D’Arcy and Ms Malin (Niamh) for organising the alternative Sports Day. And thanks to Sixth Class for sharing their learning, independence and leadership skills with the whole school!
We are very pleased with the increased fitness children have developed through Covid times and through walking to/from beach and forest school. We know children have been made aware of the need to dress appropriately for different activities. Parents/Guardians, please ensure children are prepared for a day of activities – safe footwear etc. – and for Irish weather – sun cream, extra water, jackets etc. depending on the forecast.
