Be a Good Sport Day Thursday 21st June 2018

Sports Day is a chance to be a Good Sport. Sports Day is an opportunity for parents/guardians to model positive behaviours towards each other, the children and staff.

Do encourage all children.

Do praise children for good participation, good attitude, enthusiasm.

Do value all activities, not just the races.

Do encourage your child to use positive commentary and compliment others.

Do accept decisions made by staff, especially at end line of races.

Do be grateful for time spent with family and friends.

If you are concerned your child may be anxious, please take some time to talk to your child before Sports Day. Remind them that everyone has different talents. Talk with them about how to deal with disappointment and how to compliment others. If your child is very sporty, talk with them about being a good sport, gracious in success, thoughtful and considerate of others.

We want to encourage our children to be ‘Good Sports’. Here’s what our Mission Statement says:

Mission Statement

Dalkey School Project National School strives to create a happy, friendly, inclusive, educational environment where each child is unique and valued. We are a welcoming school where diverse talents are appreciated and the school community works together respectfully. We cooperate to have a peaceful and safe atmosphere in which to learn and teach. We nurture each person’s potential and aspire to excellence.

Children shine at different activities.  In class and yard we foster positive commentary when participating in games and other activities. Remember some parents/guardians may not be free to attend Sports Day. Please encourage all children to enjoy the day. Support them by using some of the phrases below:

Well done.

Nice try.

Have another go!

I liked the way you did that.

Great effort.

Hard luck.

Better luck next time.

You did it. Hurray!

I tried my best and I finished.

I’m proud to be a good team player.

Fantastic participation. You’re a great sport!

Please bring €2.00 to get an Ice-Cream and support Down Syndrome Ireland

Sponsored Run

The sponsored run event raised €3750. A big thank you to the hard-working children who both raised the funds, and then ran, jogged or walked around the route following a wild and wacky warm-up with JuJu and Nicola from Adventure Kids Wicklow.
You are an amazing group to have raised so much for the school technology fund (and your family and friends who sponsored and supported you are pretty awesome as well!)
1st class won the Bel Gelato ice-cream vouchers for raising the most money. A big buladh bos to this class who have achieved this for three years running.
Sam from 2nd won the individual prize draw for everyone who brought in a sponsorship card
