Our sponsored Fun Activities day was a great success thanks to Ros and team. There was a huge team of helpers for the obstacle course, tug o’ war, mindfulness, problem solving and team games. Thanks to everyone who gave of their time. We were grateful that the weather held until the activities were over.

We are grateful for work in the vegetable garden thanks to Geetha, Santosh and their team of helpers. It would be super to have more families join this group. On their first ‘meitheal’ (Irish for team work), the group cleared the vegetable beds and weeded the paths. They achieved more than they expected – many hands make light work! The hope is children and parents will come to harvest fruit and vegetables over the summer holidays. If you are interested in finding out when the next ‘meitheal’ is on, contact Geetha 0863606630.

The group harvested radishes last week. Yum! Potatoes, carrots, beetroot and raspberries are growing well. We look forward to the next harvest! Thanks to Mr Doohan for guiding 2nd class in garden learning – watering etc. The back garden needs a big overhaul too. Lots of berries are growing – blueberries, redberries. This is an aspect of school life that would benefit from more parental involvement. We need adults helpers to show children how to weed, learn about the changes that happen over the seasons, appreciate time together in the fresh air.

We are grateful for Mike who fixed a swift box to the side of the school. We hope to see swifts nesting there next year. Thanks to Ella for sourcing the box for us.
