We had a very affirming experience of the school community in action this morning. Homophobic graffiti was noticed outside the school gates and near the bus stop on Sallyglen Road.

Immediately, several parents offered Miriam help in dealing with the situation. Within a half hour, the graffiti nearest the school gate was painted out by a parent. GardaĆ visited the school to investigate and spoke with Miriam. DLR CoCo reported the matter as Urgent to organise removal of graffiti on Sallyglen Road.

It is wonderful to have allies stepping up to challenge and find solutions to hate language. While hate language diminishes everyone – the writers and the targets – the DSP community of allies was like a warm blanket on a cold miserable day. Thanks to everyone for their support!
