We will be having a 70s party for children on Wednesday 27th February 2019 as part of the DSP40 birthday celebrations. We are encouraging everyone to dress in 70s outfits. Classes will gather for a whole school assembly.

We look forward to meeting founders Dr Áine Hyland, Desmond Green, Pat and Micheal Johnston. We are delighted to have Dr Niall Muldoon, Ombudsman for Children, attending Founders Day 27th February 2019 assembly 9:15 – 10:00am. Many local representatives have accepted invites. We hope for their help in making progress with our building plans.

Junior Infants learn about dress in the 70s

Paul Rowe, CEO Educate Together (ET) and Luke O’Shaughnessy Communications ET will be present. As the day is mainly for the children, we have to limit adult invitations for health and safety reasons. PTA committee and class representatives and BoM members are invited.

More information will issues from classes as they plan their different ways to party 70s style!

Thanks to Maryrose, this lyric team re-wrote A Million Dreams

A Million Dreams for DSP

You closed your eyes and you could see,

A vision of a school for me,

That includes us all.

Boys and girls, equality,

Voices heard from you and me

Together filled with smiles.

And they said, and they said you all sound crazy,

And they said and they said, you’ve lost your minds,

No one cared, no one cared if they called you crazy,

You could build a school that you designed.

Cos every day you knocked on doors,

You fundraised for a real good cause,

All your dreams were keeping you awake,

You thought of what the school could be,

A safe place for the kids like me,

A million dreams was all it was gonna take,

A million dreams for the school you were gonna make.

Here’s the school that you have built,

Every class inside is filled,

With happiness and joy.

These special kids from far and near,

Each one here to make you cheer,

On a rainy day.

And they said, and they said it all sounds crazy,

And they said and they said, you’ve lost your minds,

No one cared, no one cared if they called you crazy,

You could build a school that you designed.

Cos every day inside your head,

You thought of what the people said,

All your dreams were now coming true,

A school that welcomed from all round,

That taught us that we should be proud,

Of everything we are and feel inside,

A million dreams because you tried and tried..

However big, however small,

Let us be part of it all, share your dreams with me,

We may be right, we may be wrong,

Just say that you’ll bring us along,

To the school we see, to the school you closed your eyes to see,

You closed your eyes to see.

Cos every day you knocked on doors,

You fundraised for a real good cause,

All your dreams were keeping you awake,

You thought of what the school would be,

A safe place for the kids like me,

A million dreams was all it was gonna take,

A million dreams for the school you were gonna make.

For the school you were gonna to make.
