DSP 40th Birthday
We are very excited about our new school logo, our first step in celebrating the foundation of our school almost 40 years ago. The logo represents our child-centred, empathetic, innovative approach to education. Sincere thanks to Paul Murray 6th class parent for his time, creativity and design.
We will say goodbye to our previous logo by continuing to use to it for correspondence to the end of the school year.
Can you guess what colours and images we will use for the new fresh look? You can look forward to the new logo on the 6th class Yearbook and on the published book of short stories written by 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th. Where else would you like to see it? Let us know.
Contributions are below last year’s figures. We really need these contributions as grants from the Department of Education and Skills (DES) do not cover costs. Walk into DSP and you see colourful displays, use of the latest technology, quality classroom materials, renewal of class libraries and equipment for the very varied programmes we teach that are not funded by the DES.
The DES grant for IT does not cover upgrading equipment. We have three smartboards in classrooms yet need to purchase another five to bring all classrooms up to date. We have a staged plan to upgrade floors yet the Minor Works grant does not meet these costs.
The Board invests in Continuous Professional Support for staff and is committed to including all families in access to services that the DES does not fund when external assistance is necessary for the children’s learning and well-being. If you have not yet contributed to the VC funds, please do so – every euro helps and if you can manage the recommended amount, please do contribute.
Please check we have your correct email. The last VC reminder was emailed on 24th April 2018.
