In addition to a Board of Management, the school has a patron. The main function of the patron is to determine the overall ethos and guiding policies for the school. This includes fundamental issues such as enrolment and religious education policy.

The patron is not an individual, rather it is a body of people who subscribe to the aims and objectives of the school and who are members of a limited company called Dalkey School Project. Any adult who subscribes, may join this body. It is not necessary to be a parent or guardian to become a member.

Each year the members elect an executive committee. The committee performs the regular duties of the patron.
