We had our final whole school assembly yesterday. Junior and Senior Infants sang ‘This little light of mine’ to cheer 6th class on their way to secondary. 3rd read a poem, Farewell Old School. 4th sang Stina’s song, 5th sang ‘I am a mountain’. 6th class shared some memories of DSP. We wish them the best at secondary!

Our Sports Day was a great success. We were very fortunate to have a bright sunny day. Photos of the event are in our end of year DSP Newsletter – colour version this year for the first time! A most sincere thank you to Anna Johnston who gave so much time to helping children finalise their articles, and for putting together the many diverse contributions. DSP Newsletter encapsulates many happy moments shared during the year 2011-2012. Thanks again Anna!

 BOM Update

The Board of Management would like to thank all those parents/guardians who have paid the Voluntary Contribution for 2011/2012.  To date we have received €27,000 which is wonderful, this money goes towards the general running costs of the school like electricity and heating bills, water rates, insurance and maintenance. The Department of Education provides for about one half of the annual running costs of our school. Many other schools have a parish or diocese to whom they can look to in order to cover the balance but because DSP has no such affiliation, it is up to the parents to contribute.  Our budget for 2011/2012 is €45,000 so we are €18,000 under budget.  As the school year is coming to an end we would ask that any parents/guardians who have not paid their contribution to please do so. We appreciate that not every family is in a position to donate the suggested amount, but can assure you that we value every amount received.

Thank you Ms Breetzke!

A very big thank you to Ms Breetzke who has contributed so much to DSP over the past eleven years. Ms Breetzke shared her multiple talents with many children who will carry on her memory here even when she is gone. Last night’s Senior Infants’ concert was a story and musical extravaganza. We wish MS Breetzke the very best in her future endeavours!

Finally, thank you to the great teamwork and commitment of the staff. We have enjoyed a year of hard work, laughs, crazy moments and more hard work. Enjoy the well earned break!                                                                          Miriam Hurley
